Bossman Duck

On May 22, 2026, a hardworking rubber duck named Boss finally boarded the Norwegian Joy in Seattle after spending fifteen straight years as a construction foreman without taking a single vacation. Even on the first day of the cruise to Alaska, Boss still carried his tiny clipboard and wore his bright blue hard hat everywhere he went. He couldn’t help inspecting deck railings, studying how the elevators worked, and giving “safety speeches” to amused passengers near the buffet. But everything changed when he stood quietly on deck beside a massive glacier glowing blue in the evening light. For the first time in years, Boss stopped thinking about deadlines and repairs and simply listened to the sound of the ocean. By the end of the voyage, the old foreman realized some of the best things in life didn’t need fixing at all.
