Skipper the Hatchling

On May 22, 2026, somewhere deep inside the bustling Norwegian Joy sailing from Seattle toward Alaska, a tiny rubber duck egg began to wobble beside a warm bakery oven. To the surprise of the crew, a squeaky little duckling popped out wearing a miniature life vest far too big for its tiny body. The passengers named him Skipper, and by the second day of the cruise he had already explored the casino, splashed in the pool, and fallen asleep in a basket of dinner rolls. One icy morning near the glaciers, Skipper stood proudly at the railing watching whales breach beside the ship as if he had been born for adventure. By the end of the voyage, everyone agreed the little duck who hatched at sea had become the luckiest mascot the cruise had ever seen.
