Madame Quackette

On May 22, 2026, a refined rubber duck named Madame Quackette boarded the Norwegian Joy in Seattle, dressed in a tiny beret, silk scarf, and carrying the air of a cultured French artisan on her voyage to Alaska. She insisted on critiquing every detail of the ship’s pastries, often declaring them “charmant, but emotionally under-seasoned.” Each morning, she sketched delicate watercolor-style doodles of the ocean, the buffet, and especially the dramatic clouds rolling over the deck. During a glacier viewing, she gasped with theatrical delight and proclaimed the icebergs “worthy of a grand exhibition at the Louvre—if slightly more elegant in their angles.” Passengers quickly grew fond of her dramatic flair and her unwavering belief that even a cruise ship breakfast deserved artistic review. By the final night beneath the shimmering northern lights, Madame Quackette was celebrated as the most sophisticated—and delightfully extra—duck aboard the voyage.
