Lawrence - 25

Once upon a cruise, 25 adventurous ducks from Livermore decided that the landlocked life was far too mundane. “Why waddle through parks when you can sail the high seas?” Lawrence #1 the ringleader, sporting a tiny captain’s hat made from a bottle cap. So, these feathered fugitives sneaked aboard the Ruby Princess in San Francisco, each duck carefully choosing their hiding spot: one in the mini-fridge of a suite, another wedged under a deck chair, and a few sneaking behind the lifeboats. Their mission? To travel to Alaska, be spotted by amused passengers, and—most importantly—go viral on Facebook. The crew was baffled. Why did the ship suddenly have random quacking coming from the laundry room? Why were the binoculars mysteriously fogged up every morning? Passengers reported “friendly ghost ducks” that waved from the railing, only disappearing when anyone tried to approach. By the time the Ruby Princess reached Alaska, the 25 ducks had mastered social media vibes. They had a ducky photobomb of tourists, perfectly timed selfies with the glaciers, and even a GoPro strapped to a floatie for the ultimate panoramic quack. When they finally waddled ashore in Juneau, the passengers posted endless videos online. “The Livermore Duck Invasion of the Ruby Princess” trended for a solid week, much to the pride of the ducks, who were last seen sipping on leftover soda from the ship’s bar, planning their next viral adventure: maybe the Panama Canal.
